Ⅰ. 산업별 ESG Ranking의 목적

I. Purpose of Industry ESG Rankings

 

 

산업별 ESG Ranking은 단순한 순위 제시에 목적을 두지 않는다. 동일하거나 유사한 산업에 속한 조직의 ESG 평가결과를 비교·분석함으로써 개별 조직의 평가결과가 해당 산업에서 어떠한 위치와 특성을 나타내는지를 살펴보는 데 목적이 있다.

 

Industry ESG Rankings are not intended merely to present rankings. Their purpose is to compare and analyze ESG evaluation results among organizations within the same or similar industries and examine the position and characteristics represented by an individual organization’s results within its industry.

이를 통해 산업별 ESG 수준과 주요 특성, 조직 간 차이 및 산업 내 상대적인 위치 등에 관한 평가분석정보를 제공한다.

 

Through this process, the Rankings provide evaluation and analytical information on ESG performance levels and key characteristics by industry, differences among organizations, and relative positions within industries.

II. Analysis Scope and Industry Classification

 

 

산업별 ESG Ranking은 SEC ESG 평가대상 가운데 산업 및 사업특성 등을 고려하여 실질적인 비교가 가능한 기업 및 기관을 중심으로 구성한다.

 

Industry ESG Rankings are constructed primarily from corporations and institutions subject to SEC ESG evaluation for which meaningful comparison is possible, taking into account industry and operational characteristics.

 

동일한 산업분류에 속하더라도 사업구조와 주요 활동 및 운영환경 등이 현저하게 다른 경우에는 비교가능성을 고려하여 분석대상을 구분할 수 있다.

 

Even where organizations fall within the same industry classification, they may be grouped separately for analysis when their business structures, principal activities, or operating environments differ significantly and affect comparability.

 

공공기관은 기관의 기능과 공공서비스의 성격, 사업 및 운영특성 등을 고려하여 실질적으로 비교 가능한 기관을 중심으로 분석한다.

 

Public institutions are analyzed primarily among substantively comparable institutions, taking into account their functions, the nature of public services, and operational characteristics.

 

구체적인 분석대상 산업과 기관의 범위는 해당 산업별 ESG Ranking 또는 평가분석 결과를 공개할 때 함께 제시한다.

 

The specific industries and organizations included in an analysis are presented when the relevant Industry ESG Rankings or evaluation analysis results are disclosed.

산업별 ESG Ranking은 환경(Environmental), 사회(Social), 거버넌스(Governance)에 관한 SEC의 ESG 평가결과를 바탕으로 산업 내 조직의 상대적인 위치와 주요 ESG 특성을 분석한다.

 

Industry ESG Rankings analyze the relative position and key ESG characteristics of organizations within an industry based on SEC evaluation results relating to Environmental, Social, and Governance factors.

 

분석에서는 개별 조직의 종합적인 ESG 평가결과와 함께 산업별 주요 특성, 비교대상 조직 간 차이 및 평가결과에서 나타나는 주요 경향 등을 살펴본다.

 

The analysis considers overall ESG evaluation results of individual organizations together with key industry characteristics, differences among peer organizations, and major patterns reflected in evaluation results.

 

이를 통해 개별적인 평가결과만으로는 확인하기 어려운 산업 내 ESG 현황과 조직 간 상대적인 차이를 보다 입체적으로 살펴볼 수 있도록 한다.

 

This enables a more multidimensional understanding of ESG conditions within an industry and relative differences among organizations that may not be apparent from individual evaluation results alone.

IV. Interpretation of Rankings

 

 

산업별 ESG Ranking은 동일하거나 유사한 산업 내에서 조직의 ESG 평가결과와 상대적 위치를 이해하기 위한 평가분석정보이다.

 

Industry ESG Rankings are evaluation and analytical information intended to support understanding of an organization’s ESG evaluation results and relative position within the same or similar industry.

 

Ranking의 순위만으로 조직의 책임경영 전체나 기업가치, 투자매력도 또는 미래 경쟁력을 판단하지 않는다. 산업의 특성과 비교대상의 구성, 개별 조직의 특성 및 평가결과에 나타난 다양한 요소를 함께 고려할 필요가 있다.

 

Ranking position alone does not determine an organization’s overall Responsible Management, corporate value, investment attractiveness, or Future Competitiveness. Industry characteristics, peer group composition, organizational characteristics, and diverse factors reflected in evaluation results need to be considered together.

SEC는 평가결과의 공정성·객관성·투명성 및 신뢰성을 고려하여 공개 가능한 범위에서 산업별 ESG Ranking과 관련 평가분석정보를 제공한다.

 

SEC provides Industry ESG Rankings and related evaluation and analytical information within the scope appropriate for public disclosure, taking into account the Fairness, Objectivity, Transparency, and Reliability of Evaluation.

 

평가분석 결과를 공개할 때에는 이용자가 해당 정보를 적절하게 이해할 수 있도록 분석대상의 범위와 비교기준, 분석시점 및 필요한 설명정보를 함께 제시한다.

 

When evaluation analysis results are disclosed, SEC provides the scope of organizations analyzed, comparison criteria, analysis period, and other necessary explanatory information so that users can appropriately understand the information.

 

세부 평가기법과 판단기준, 점수·배점 및 가중치, 산출방식과 내부 검증기준 등은 평가의 독립성·공정성·객관성 및 신뢰성을 확보하기 위하여 필요한 범위에서 관리한다.

 

Specific evaluation techniques, judgment criteria, scores and point allocations, weights, calculation methods, and internal verification standards are managed to the extent necessary to safeguard the Independence, Fairness, Objectivity, and Reliability of Evaluation.

또한 투자자와 소비자·이용자, 협력사, 연구기관 및 기타 이해관계자가 산업과 조직의 ESG 현황을 이해하는 데 참고할 수 있는 평가분석정보를 제공한다.

 

They also provide evaluation and analytical information that investors, consumers and users, business partners, research institutions, and other stakeholders may use as a reference in understanding the ESG conditions of industries and organizations.
